Before the restoration, this downtown Des Moines home had a badly cracked foundation. We lifted the house onto steel beams, poured a new foundation and lowered the home back into place.
New siding met the home’s historic requirements. Inside, the renovation included a finished basement, plumbing for a basement bathroom, new electrical work and painting throughout the home.
The photographs follow the work from the house lift to the finished rooms. At a public open house held by the city, we shared a slideshow showing how the restoration came together.
